Rev. Young Wimberly Visit

Rev. Kiran Young Wimberly is a PC(USA) minister who will be visiting DPC on Sunday, November 15 as a special guest to help usher in Celtic Advent. Kiran has been based in Northern Ireland for most of the past 20 years. She is a spiritual director, musician, podcaster, and writer.

Join for a special time of education on the 15th led by Rev. Young Wimberly titled Love and Mercy, Justice and Peace: Peacebuilding through Singing Psalms in Northern Ireland and Beyond in the Celtic Cross Room following the 10:30 am service. All are welcome.

A few years ago celebrated the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement in Northern Ireland, which brought about a new chapter of peace. Although much progress has been made in the decades since the Troubles, there is still a need for social healing—safe, inclusive spaces where people can come together across historic and contemporary community divides. In this session she will share about the Celtic Psalms project (Kiran’s collaboration with the Irish musical family The McGraths) which has brought divided communities together around Psalms set to Irish and Scottish melodies. We will explore the role of the arts, spirituality, and social healing in peacebuilding, justice, and the Advent hope for a better world.
