The Doylestown Presbyterian Church’s Peace and Justice Committee will be reading and discussing Pope Francis’ encyclical, Laudato┬áSi. We are inviting the Doylestown community to join us to discuss how this important document might help us think through our role in addressing and responding to climate change. We will meet in person in Andrews Hall Room 213 for four consecutive Wednesdays from 6-7:30 pm beginning on January 19. The document is free online and the first 10 registrants for the class series will receive a free print copy, which includes a discussion guide.

Wednesday, Jan. 26: chs. 2-3

Wednesday, Feb. 2: chs. 4-5

Peace and Justice Moderator Greg Jensen offers his thoughts: “While climate change concerns all of us and requires our collective action, the enormous scope of the problem often leaves us wondering what we can and should do. The jarring, yet hopeful message of Pope Francis’s encyclical, Laudato Si, offers a helpful way forward. This crucial document is both an assessment of the social, cultural, and moral factors undergirding climate change and a call to action. I look forward to reading and evaluating this important text in order to discern our specific roles in addressing climate change.”
