Lighthouse is our Sunday morning program
for children in grades K-4
Workshops are in Andrews Hall from 9:45 to 10:30 a.m.
Children will visit a different workshop every Sunday. Over the course of four to five weeks, they will be immersed in a single biblical story as they move through the various workshops. Each fifth Sunday will be an “All Lighthouse” event for the whole group. They will come to know Christ in a whole new way so that they can share his light with others. Please register here
NEW FOR 2017-18!
Our Preschool/Pre-K (ages 3 to 5) class is now called the Little Lambs. The same nurturing, fun class with the same dedicated group of teachers.
February 4: All Lighthouse Event - Morning of Mission
March 11: All Lighthouse Event - Tie Dye Earth Day T-shirts (shirts provided)
April 22: All Lighthouse Event - Barn Nature Center
Rotation 4 - January 7 - January 28
A brief description of each of the workshops in this rotation follows:
ART: Students will create a personal sand-story in a bottle whose layers, colors and inserted objects help tell the Exodus story and “bottle” its meaning.
DRAMA: Children will walk through 10 stations scattered around the first floor of Andrews Hall, each one offering the opportunity to re-enact each of the ten plagues that struck Egypt.
VIDEO: Children will become more familiar with the story of Moses and the Israelites’ exodus from Egypt by watching a portion of the animated film The Prince of Egypt.
MUSIC: Children will learn two songs about Pharaoh and the Egyptians suffering through the plagues. They will close by reading the song that Moses and the Israelites sang after crossing the Red Sea (Exodus 15:1-17).
CONNECT ... just for 5th & 6th graders!
CONNECT is moving up!
Class will be in Andrews Hall Room 203 on the second floor.
This year we will focus on the Old Testament with Units such as Beginnings, which is a journey through Genesis from Creation to the Tower of Babel, The Promise, which continues in Genesis and focuses on stories such as the Covenant and Joseph. Freedom takes us to Exodus with stories including Moses, Commandments and Promised Land. Kings and Prophets will take us into spring where we will study stories such as David and Solomon's Temple.
Every Connect lesson follows a three-part sequence: See, Explore, and Make. Each week, tweens focus on and reinforce a theme by watching a witty video, exploring biblical text, and creating projects that range from games to art and more.
Connect explores the themes found throughout the Bible’s greatest stories and encourages preteens to see the narrative arc of the Bible—from Creation to New Creation.
Connect grows with preteens, helping them make sense of the Bible, and encouraging them to ask questions, make connections, and reflect.
Each lesson begins with a video that blends witty, slap-stick humor with solid theology, in a way that’s accessible to preteens.
