CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS!
Please don’t the give the homeless the “cold shoulder” this winter.
DPC and Coalition to Shelter and Support the Homeless (CSSH) Need your Support!
Did you know, that Central Bucks (CB) County currently lacks overnight shelters for adults without resources?? The most critical need is for shelter on “Code Blue” nights, when wind chill factor is below 20°F. CSSH is a non‐profit alliance of approximately 12 faith‐based and community service organizations working to establish a CB “Code Blue” program to provide shelter for our homeless neighbors on Code Blue nights beginning January 2012.
A number of DPC members have had active roles in this initiative over the past 6 months, and continue to play lead roles in CSSH. In October 2011, Session approved use of a DPC van for the 2012 Code Blue “season”, as well as DPC to serve as Host Site for March 2012. Trinity Episcopal of Buckingham and Salem UCC of Doylestown will serve as Host Site for January and February 2012 respectively.
CSSH needs a force of over 250 volunteers, as 15 volunteers per night are required for a Host Site to open for shelter. DPC hopes that many in our congregation will choose to volunteer and be part of this important initiative. There are numerous volunteer positions available for people of all ages and abilities. CSSH will provide local volunteer training sessions during December, including one at DPC on December 3 (9 a.m. in the Celtic Cross Room). Training will also continue in 2012.

Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? –Isaiah 58:7
