Update from the DPC Influenza Task Force
DPC has established an Influenza Task Force to develop measures to protect our congregation and community, and to prevent, control and respond to the spread of H1N1 (a.k.a "swine") influenza. The Task Force met recently and has recommended the following actions:
• Temporary suspension of hand-shaking during the Sharing of the Peace;
• Modification of Communion practices through use of individual, pre-cut pieces of bread beginning with our next observance of the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper in November;
• Posting of signs in bathrooms and other appropriate areas of Andrews Hall and the sanctuary building, to remind individuals of the proper way to wash hands and cough, as well as other flu prevention tips;
• Continued dissemination of flu information in Sunday bulletins, Tidings and other sources as applicable;
• Increased diligence with the cleaning of children's toys, and Church School rooms;
• Wiping down of the top of each pew (where people often place their hands when standing) after each worship service;
• A Task Force member and/or Parish Nurse will visit each Sunday school classroom as well as various youth/fellowship groups, to remind our youth about hand washing and proper ways to cough, etc. Will also do the same with Deacons to stress flu prevention tips during their visitation of members.
Look for continued information in future bulletins, The Tidings and elsewhere around the church, and please contact the church office or Ann Sweet (215-340-3614) should you have questions or concerns.
