The Chorus was chartered in 1998 in Easton, PA and moved its rehearsals to the First Presbyterian Church in Hamilton Square, NJ four years ago. DPC "Code Blue" Initiative

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS!

Please don’t the give the homeless the “cold shoulder” this winter.

DPC and Coalition to Shelter and Support the Homeless (CSSH) Need your Support!

csshDid you know, that Central Bucks (CB) County currently lacks overnight shelters for adults without resources?? The most critical need is for shelter on “Code Blue” nights, when wind chill factor is below 20°F. CSSH is a non‐profit alliance of approximately 12 faith‐based and community service organizations working to establish a CB “Code Blue” program to provide shelter for our homeless neighbors on Code Blue nights beginning January 2012.

A number of DPC members have had active roles in this initiative over the past 6 months, and continue to play lead roles in CSSH. In October 2011, Session approved use of a DPC van for the 2012 Code Blue “season”, as well as DPC to serve as Host Site for March 2012. Trinity Episcopal of Buckingham and Salem UCC of Doylestown will serve as Host Site for January and February 2012 respectively.

One Green Aspect of Our Renovation Project

DSSIAs part of our Renovation and Construction project, Dawn Solar Systems Inc. (DSSI) has begun a turnkey installation of a “state of the art” Renewable Energy System ™.  Installation of the solar thermal array, tank, pump and controls began on August 24. This project will provide a lifetime renewable energy system, reduce energy costs, provide current and future generations with improved energy security and dramatically reduce our carbon footprint. The 1,500 square foot Dawn Solar Thermal System will collect solar heat from beneath the roof area. A non-toxic propylene glycol antifreeze solution will circulate under the hot roof and move energy between the Dawn Solar collection system and the heat exchanger(s) within the solar storage tank. Operation of the solar collection circulator(s) will be controlled by solar differential controls that monitor the temperature difference between the collector and the bottom of the solar storage tank. The 1,200 square feet of metal roof coverage over the solar thermal system is eligible for federal incentives as part of the solar thermal system.

A Domestic Water Heating system will also be installed.  A hot water is drawn from the auxiliary water heater, water replacing it will be drawn from the dedicated hot water heat exchanger in the solar storage (preheat) tank, thereby eliminating or reducing the use of fossil fuels, bio-fuels or electricity.

Senior High Group Returns from Mission Trip

mission_trip1On Saturday, August 6, at 6:00 in the morning, a group of 18 senior high students and seven adult leaders departed in five vehicles stuffed to the brim for Farmington, Maine, to spend a week working with Mission at the Eastward, an organization that pairs work groups with rehab projects at area homes for people who cannot afford the repairs.  The group spent six full days in Farmington, spending the better part of five of those days hammering, drilling, sawing, hoisting, prying, painting, and sweating as they tackled the various tasks that were put before them.

The group also took advantage of some opportunities to enjoy the area, spending an afternoon in Farmington with its quaint shops and restaurants, and on Thursday afternoon the group called it quits early and drove thirty minutes east for the opening night of Skowhegan State Fair.

It was a wonderful experience for everyone involved!
